Dr. Kendall Walkes, a 1984 graduate of Davis & Elkins College, left an indelible mark on the college’s athletics program as a standout soccer player. A four-time All-Conference (WVIAC) selection, he captained the Senators in 1982 and 1983, earning First Team All-South Region honors and leading the team to a WVIAC/Mid-Atlantic Championship in 1983. Walkes was also named Davis & Elkins Athlete of the Year in 1983 and won the Athletics Department Academic Award four consecutive years. During his time at D&E, he contributed to the team's 1980 WVIAC Championship and their third-place finish in the 1980 NAIA National Championship Final Four.

After graduating, Walkes pursued a successful coaching career, earning accolades such as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1991, and multiple national honors in youth soccer, including NSCAA National Coach of the Year and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004, respectively. With a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from Temple University and decades of experience, Walkes continues to impact the soccer community as a head coach at several levels, including high school and youth academies, while also serving as a professional instructor. His legacy in soccer and education remains strong, highlighted by his lifetime achievement recognition from Friends of Senators Soccer (FOSS).
