Nominated by former player Greg Brown ’81, Guy Sievert made an enduring impact on the Davis & Elkins College golf program during his tenure as head coach from the mid-1970s through the early 1980s. Initially stepping into the role on a temporary basis in 1974, Sievert quickly elevated the program to new heights, leading the Senators to four consecutive national tournament appearances, two conference championships, and two runner-up finishes. Under his leadership, D&E achieved back-to-back top-20 finishes at the NAIA National Championships in 1980 and 1981.

Sievert’s teams were known not only for their competitive excellence but also for their academic success. Over his tenure, 12 players earned All-Conference honors, with several achieving All-American and Academic All-American recognition. His commitment to mentorship extended well beyond the course—Sievert stayed connected with his former players for decades, organizing reunions and fostering lifelong friendships.

Beyond athletics, Sievert built a distinguished career in higher education, serving as Vice President and Dean of Students at Davis & Elkins College, Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Portland, and Chief Academic Officer at Portland Community College. He later transitioned into environmental consulting and continues to serve his Oregon community through a variety of leadership roles.
