Davis and Elkins College Athletics

The 1968 Davis & Elkins men’s soccer team captured the college’s first-ever national championship, setting the stage for a dynasty that would define the program for decades. Under Head Coach Greg Myers, the Senators completed an undefeated season at 13-0-2 and earned their place in history by defeating host and two-time defending champion Quincy (IL) 2–1 in five overtimes — the longest championship match ever played at the time and the first in NAIA history to be decided in extra time.

The team’s remarkable run not only brought home D&E’s first national title but also established the Senators as a force on the national stage, marking the beginning of one of the most storied eras in collegiate soccer.
