A cornerstone of the Davis & Elkins men’s soccer program in the mid-1980s, Dave Archbold was a four-year standout whose consistency and leadership anchored the Senators’ defense. From 1984–88, he earned All-Conference honors every season and was recognized as an All-South Region selection from 1985–87. In 1986, Archbold capped his collegiate career with All-American honors, solidifying his place among the premier defenders in program history. He was nominated to the Hall of Fame by his coach, Nils Heinke.

Following his time at D&E, Archbold continued his playing career in Ireland, competing in the League of Ireland from 1989–91 and in the second tier through 1998. His passion for the game carried over into coaching, where he built an accomplished career in Dublin. He managed Leinster’s Interprovincial Schools Team and served as both Assistant Manager and later Manager for the Irish Schools International Team, helping guide numerous players who went on to professional careers in England and Scotland.

Today, Archbold continues to influence Irish soccer as the Irish Schools National Secretary and a member of the Football Association of Ireland’s General Assembly and High Performance/International Committee, where he plays an active role in developing the game from grassroots through the international level.
