Davis & Elkins women's basketball hits the road for three consecutive contests, including a stretch of two games in three days that begins this weekend. The Senators will travel to square off with West Virginia State on Saturday, January 23 at 2:00 PM before taking on Fairmont State in a rescheduled contest on Monday, January 25 at 6:00 PM.

The Senators aim to bounce back from an 84-54 defeat to Charleston (W.Va.) last time out. Meanwhile, West Virginia State has strung together two consecutive wins after an 0-3 start to the 2021 season. Fairmont State, which had a brief pause in team activities, is 1-3 heading into the weekend.

- How It Happened: Â Fueled by the emotion of the team's Senior Day, Davis & Elkins got back in the win column with a 93-81 home triumph against West Virginia State. Jamiyah Johnson once again led the Senators, collecting her 21st double-double by halftime of today's game, pushing her streak to 19 straight.

- Jamiyah Johnson continues to close in on 1,000 career points, entering the weekend with 969 in just over three seasons. At her current scoring pace of 17.0 PPG, Johnson would collect her 1,000th career point on Monday against Fairmont State.
- The Senators enter the weekend last in the league in scoring defense (86.3) after facing some of the league's top offensive units in the early portions of the season.
- Amiah Banks is second on the team in scoring at 9.0 PPG, while freshman Brooklyn Maxwell slots third at 7.3 PPG. Maxwell has started all four games and is second on the team, just behind Johnson, in minutes played this season.

- After beginning the season with losses to Glenville State, Concord and Notre Dame (Ohio), the Yellow Jackets have rattled off consecutive victories against Alderson Broaddus and West Virginia State.
- Typically a high-scoring bunch, West Virginia State is fifth nationally in scoring offense (87.2). The Yellow Jackets are led offensively by the duo of Charity Shears (13.2 PPG, 3.0 RPG, .446 FG%) and Destiny Fields (12.2 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.4 APG, 16 steals).
- The Yellow Jackets rank first in NCAA DII in steals/game (19.6) and fourth in turnover margin (11.0). WVSU has three players with 10 or more steals this season, including Zakorrah Russell (6.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 12 steals).
- The Yellow Jackets cruised past West Virginia Wesleyan, 103-68, last time out. It was the second straight contest that WVSU logged 100 points or more.

SCOUTING FAIRMONT STATE
- Fairmont State has shuffled its schedule this season after pausing team activities due to COVID-19 protocols. The game against D&E, originally scheduled for January 10, was moved to January 25.
- The Falcons are led by Sierra Kotchman (22.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, nine assists), who averages nearly 38 minutes/game. She posted 30 points in the season opener against West Liberty on January 30.
- Fairmont State fell behind in the second half in a 74-63 loss to Notre Dame (Ohio) on January 20. Kotchman and Katy Darnell had 21 points each for FSU.
