Elkins, W. Va. - Fueled by the emotion of the team's Senior Day, Davis & Elkins got back in the win column with a 93-81 home triumph against West Virginia State on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonnell Center.
Jamiyah Johnson once again led the Senators, collecting her 21st double-double by halftime of today's game, pushing her streak to 19 consecutive. Finishing with a game-high 29 points and 22 rebounds, Johnson picked up right where she left off in the last meeting against the Yellow Jackets.
Jay Kilpatrick, who was honored pregame as part of the senior class, contributed 16 points and handed out seven assists.
Sydney Nestor was the third Senator to finish the night in double digits, scoring 13 points and grabbing five rebounds.
West Virginia State placed four players in double digits: Alexis Hall (15), Payton Shears (11), Destiny Fields (11) and Kalia Cunningham (10).
The Senators outrebounded West Virginia State in the contest, 49-37.
Davis & Elkins outscored the visitors in each half, notching 42 points in the first two quarters and 45 in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nestor put up the first points of the night for the Senators with 9:34 remaining. WVSU responded, taking a 22-19 lead into the second frame.
- D&E took the lead at 7:05 in the second on a made foul shot by Johnson, a lead the Senators did not relinquish for the remainder of the half. D&E pushed its second half margin to 18 points, but the Yellow Jackets answered with a couple baskets, dropping the lead down to nine points at the 1:29 mark of the third.
- Despite the visitors holding a 28-27 scoring edge in the forurth quarter, D&E got the job done at the line. With 1:21 remaining in the fourth, the Senators increased their lead to 12 points with a pair free throws from Kilpatrick. Scoring the last points of the game, Nestor went 3-4 at the line for the Senators.
GAME NOTES
- In what could be a trend, Davis & Elkins once again limited an opponent to well below its season average. After allowing 103 points in the first meeting, the Senators allowed just 81 points on Saturday.
- Johnson put up a staggering 64 points and 43 rebounds in two regular season meetings with West Virginia State.
- Johnson secured 10 or more offensive rebounds for the third time this season.
