BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins women's basketball team wrapped up its 2024-25 season with a 62-45 road loss to West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference action Saturday afternoon at Rockefeller Gymnasium.
The Senators (2-25, 1-20 MEC) started strong, outscoring the Bobcats 15-7 in the first quarter, but struggled offensively the rest of the way as WVWC (19-8, 13-7 MEC) took control with a 19-point second quarter to seize the lead.
LaChazity Shaver led D&E with 11 points, knocking down two three-pointers and adding five rebounds. Josiany Canales and Briyanna Sapp each contributed nine points, with Canales also tallying a team-high three assists. Jackie Wright anchored the defense with 15 rebounds and three steals.
The Bobcats held a 45-36 rebounding advantage and forced 13 D&E turnovers.
The game marked the end of the season for the Senators, who were eliminated from postseason contention. They now turn their focus to the offseason and preparations for the 2025-26 campaign.
