  • Last Meeting: February 11, 2019 – Davis & Elkins 85, Salem 79 | Box Score | Recap
  • How It Happened: Davis & Elkins pulled away just before halftime and maintained its advantage into the final two quarters as part of an 85-79 road win against the Tigers. Kali Wilburn recorded 17 points and added four rebounds and a pair of assists in the win for D&E.

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Jamiyah Johnson provided one of the top individual efforts in school history last time out for the Senators, dropping 31 points and adding 26 rebounds in a 75-70 road win at Urbana on December 14. The stellar performance landed Johnson MEC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week and USBWA National Player of the Week accolades. Her 26 rebounds tied a single-game school record that dated back to 1985 and were the most by a DII player this season.
  • Johnson is second in the nation in rebounding (14.0 RPG) and is tied for seventh with seven double-doubles this season. She has also pushed her scoring average to 18.7 points/game behind 83 made field goals.
  • Peyton Mohler played all 40 minutes and posted a career-high 16 points against the Blue Knights on December 14. She has recorded four games this season with 10 or more points.
  • Jay Kilpatrick, Jessica Eadsforth-Yates and Sydney Nestor all average about nine points per contest to help the Senators' balanced scoring output. D&E is averaging 67.4 points per game.
  • Davis & Elkins has cleaned up its play after dealing with foul issues earlier in the year. The Senators lead the league in fewest fouls committed (167) this season.
  • Davis & Elkins returned to the court on December 30 with an exhibition contest at Bowling Green. The contest marked the second exhibition matchup against an NCAA DI opponent this season for the Senators, who opened the campaign against Northern Kentucky on October 31.
  • The Senators are a team that seem to get stronger as the game progresses, outscoring their opponents 289-285 in the second half this season. This is a stark contrast to the first half, where the Senators have been outscored 506-385.
  • Jay Kilpatrick leads the team with 23 assists this season, posting seven over the last two games.
  • The victory against Urbana was the first road win for Davis & Elkins this season.

SCOUTING SALEM
  • Salem opens the 2020 portion of its schedule at home against Davis & Elkins on Thursday. The Tigers enter the game on a four-game skid, including two losses against MEC schools (Concord and West Virginia State).
  • The Tigers are one of three schools in the continental United States that are independent (without a conference) at the Division II level. Bluefield State (W. Va.) and Oakland City (Ind.) are also independent.
  • Salem has recorded both its wins at home this season, opening the year with a 118-17 victory over Miami University (Hamilton) before adding a 92-86 win against Virginia State on December 7.
  • The Tigers rank 10th nationally in offensive rebounds/game (17.3) and sixth in made three-pointers (121).
  • Nia Bishop leads the team with 17.4 points/game after starting in 11 of 12 games so far this season.
  • Cody Gilmore is in his second season at the helm of the Tigers.
  • Endia Jones (6.6 RPG) and Reeva Jackson (5.3 RPG) lead the team in rebounding on a guard-laden team.
  • Nerea Fernandez is the second Tiger to average double figures this season at 10.3 points/game.
