ELKINS, W.Va. — It was a beautiful late summer afternoon on Sunday at Nuttall Field, but the Davis & Elkins women's soccer team wasn't able to capitalize as Thomas More University improved to 3-0 on the season with a commanding 5-1 win.

Thomas More opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net in the 4th minute. The Saints kept the pressure on, adding a second goal in the 56th minute.

Despite the early deficit, the Senators fought hard throughout the match, with goalkeeper Monica Birkelund making four key saves. After falling behind 3-0, Davis & Elkins responded with determination, as Manoela Piraja was able to knock the ball just across the line off a corner kick in the 62nd minute, finishing a well-executed play to narrow the deficit to 3-1.

The Senators' offense showed promise, outshooting Thomas More 5-3 in the second half and earning four corner kicks. Taytum Walls and Andrea Stanziola both tested the Saints' defense with dangerous shots on target, while Alexa Karsel and Catalina Salas kept the pressure on in the attacking third.

Scoring their first goal wasn't enough to keep D&E within reach, as the momentum stayed with Thomas More. The Saints added two more goals, one in the 73rd minute and another in the 88th minute, sealing the victory.

The Senators fell to 0-3 on the season with the loss.
