CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to the University of Charleston on Wednesday evening at the Welch Athletic Complex.
Charleston struck first, scoring in the 11th minute to give the Golden Eagles an early lead. Despite several attempts, Davis & Elkins found it difficult to equalize in the first half, trailing 1-0 at the break.
D&E's Rylie Galterio leveled the score in the 55th minute, marking her third goal of the season. However, Charleston regained the lead in the 82nd minute when Juliette Lucas netted the game-winner. Lucas' goal, her 13th of the season, proved decisive as the Senators could not mount a comeback.
