ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's basketball team travels to Wheeling for the opening round of the Mountain East Conference tournament. The 10
th seeded Senators will battle seventh seeded West Virginia State at noon on Wednesday in the first game of the tournament. The Yellow Jackets won both regular season meetings. State won 68-65 on January 31
st in Elkins. February 9
th D&E led at the half, but the Jackets utilized a big third quarter to take a 92-70 win.
All-MEC second team performer
Dream Cherry leads the Senators. Cherry finished the regular season averaging 15.9 points per game.
Peyton Mohler scores 13.2 ppg and pulls down six rebounds per contest.
Marissa Berlin averaged a double-double for the regular season with 13 ppg and 10.4 rebounds.
Allie Taylor scores nine points a night and grabs 4.6 rebounds.
West Virginia State is led by Charity Shears 11.9 ppg followed by Destiny Fields 10.8 and Shelby Harmeyer 10.6.
Davis & Elkins finished the regular season 8-19 overall and 5-17 in the MEC.
West Virginia State finished 17-10 overall and 13-9 in the league.
Tip-off is set for noon inside WesBanco Arena.
