Johnson Named Second Team All-MEC

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins senior forward Jamiyah Johnson was named a Second Team All-Mountain East Conference (MEC) selection, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Brooklyn Pannell won the league's Player of the Year award, while other top honors went to Fairmont State's Alyssa DeAngelo (Freshman of the Year) and UC's Tianni Kelly (Coach of the Year). 
 
Johnson, a senior from Williamsburg, Va., capped her final season averaging 13.3 points/game and 14.1 rebounds/game. She secured her 1,000th career point on January 25 against Fairmont State, while finishing ninth in the league in scoring average and second in rebounding average at the time of release.
 
Johnson scored 1,109 points in her career, which ranks 17th in program history. She also grabbed 949 rebounds, the second most in program history.
 
Johnson converted 58.1% of her shots this season, posting double digits in 11 of 12 games played in 2021. She finished with nine double-doubles this season and is fourth nationally in rebounding average at the time of release.
 
She led the nation for the second consecutive season in offensive rebounds/game (5.8). Johnson was named a 2019-20 All-MEC First Team selection and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honoree as a junior.
 
The All-MEC teams are selected by a vote of the league's coaches.
