BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Following a big week that helped that helped the Davis & Elkins women's volleyball team go 2-0, junior Macie Magallon earned the league's first Mountain East Conference (MEC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week award for the 2021 season.
Magallon was stellar in a pair of matches this week, smacking 40 kills while hitting .385 for the week. She added seven total blocks and 15 digs in the two matches.
The Nucla, Colo. native opened the week with 23 kills, two aces and six digs against Concord. Hitting .415 against the Mountain Lions, Magallon added five total blocks. She followed it up with 17 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 sweep of Charleston (W.Va.) on February 5.
Through week one, Magallon is second in the MEC in total kills (40) and first in kills/set (5.71). She leads the league in points (49.5) despite playing one less set than the next three players on the list.
Davis & Elkins opens the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, February 9 against West Virginia State at 7:00 PM.
