GLENVILLE, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College volleyball secured a 3-1 victory over Glenville State on Tuesday at the Waco Center. The Senators won with set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 21-25, and 25-10, improving to 6-13 on the season and 3-9 in the Mountain East Conference.
Senior Reanne Debose led Davis & Elkins with a standout performance, amassing 20 kills on 54 attempts, along with 17 digs, for a team-high 21 points. Senior Gracjana Rozanska added 8 kills and recorded 5 solo blocks, while senior setter Haylie Marumoto directed the offense with 40 assists and contributed 7 service aces.
D&E started strong, controlling the first two sets with solid attacking and serving. In set two, Marumoto's serving fueled a 5-0 lead as the Senators held Glenville to a .179 hitting percentage for the set. Glenville (3-20, 1-9 MEC) managed to take the third set after a close back-and-forth battle with multiple lead changes but struggled in the fourth set, as the Senators capitalized on errors to close out the match decisively at 25-10.
The Senators totaled 48 kills, hitting .173 as a team and recording 10 service aces, while Glenville posted 36 kills and 11 total blocks. The match marked a crucial conference win as Davis & Elkins looks to build momentum in MEC play as the regular season comes to a close.
