PREVIEW: D&E Women Visit #3 Charleston (W.Va.) on Wednesday

THE OPENING TIP 
Davis & Elkins women's basketball is set for the first of two matchups against ranked opponents this week, beginning with a trip to face third-ranked and undefeated Charleston (W.Va.) on Wednesday. The Senators fell to Concord, 74-54 on the road, last Saturday.
 
Charleston cruised to an 84-55 road win against the Senators on January 20 and enter the week with a perfect 12-0 mark. The Golden Eagles rolled past West Virginia Wesleyan for an 87-52 road win last time out on February 13.

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Jamiyah Johnson ranks 10th in the MEC in scoring (17.4) and second in rebounding (14.2). The senior forward had posted a double-double in six of nine appearances this season.
  • Jessica Eadsforth-Yates pulled in a career-high nine rebounds last time out against Concord. She has averaged 13.3 points/game over the last three contests for D&E.
  • Peyton Mohler is the only player to appear and start in all 12 games this season. Mohler has chipped in six points or more in each of the last eight outings.
  • Brooklyn Maxwell posted eight points, two rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes against Charleston on January 20.

SCOUTING CHARLESTON
  • Charleston has rolled through this season, winning their games by an average margin of nearly 23 points.
  • Brooklyn Pannell is coming off the MEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award. Pannell, a senior from Columbus, Ohio, averaged 36.7 points in the three wins to help UC improve to 12-0 on the season.
  • Pannell, who leads the nation in scoring average (26.7), poured in 32 points in the first meeting with D&E in January.
  • The Golden Eagles lead the league and rank first nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.415). UC has made at least 12 triples in each of the last four games, shooting 54.4% from deep over that span.
  • In addition to the hot shooting from beyond the arc, UC has clamped down defensively as well, limited each of the last four opponents to below 70 points.
