BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins volleyball junior setter
Brilane Manchego earned the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Defensive Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Manchego, in her first season with the Senators, has helped power the team to a 3-0 start that included an exciting victory against West Virginia State on February 9. She posted a season-high 18 digs, also passing out 43 assists in the D&E victory last week against the Yellow Jackets.
Though early in the season, Manchego ranks second in the league with 11.09 assists/set to help facilitate the D&E attack. She joins teammate
Macie Magallon, who earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week award last Monday.
The Senators have had the last two matches postponed, but look to return to the court later this week against Concord.
