JOHNSON CLIMBING UP D&E RECORD BOOKS WITH STELLAR CAMPAIGN
- Junior F Jamiyah Johnson has had a stellar season as a junior for the Senators, and her production has her name throughout the program's record book. Securing 10 or more rebounds in 22 straight contests, Johnson has set a new single season rebounding record with 411, previously passing Erin Smulski (1995-96) for most all-time.
- Johnson has grabbed 743 rebounds in her career, moving to fourth all-time in school history, and passing Wendy Fox (1985-89).
- The junior forward leads the team in scoring average (18.7) and rebounding (15.2). She is second nationally in rebounding average, just behind Wheeling's Lily Ritz, and leads all of NCAA DII basketball in offensive rebounds/game (6.3).
- Johnson leads the nation with 24 double-doubles this season, securing at least 10 points and 10 rebounds in 22 consecutive contests. She is second all-time in consecutive double-doubles among NCAA DII women's players, with the record at 24.
DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
- Davis & Elkins was limited to just 13 points in each of the final three quarters in a 71-59 road loss to Frostburg State last time out.
- Sydney Nestor hit four three-pointers in the first half, on her way to a career-high 17 points against Frostburg.
- The Senators pace the MEC and rank 23rd nationally in rebounding margin (+7.9).
- With a D&E win and losses by WV State and West Liberty, all three teams will end the season with a 7-15 mark in league play.
- Jay Kilpatrick (9.4 PPG) and Peyton Mohler (9.1) have also become viable scoring options for D&E this season. Kilpatrick leads the team with 60 assists this season, while Mohler is fourth in the league with 102 made foul shots.
SCOUTING WV WESLEYAN
- The Bobcats will look to end the season on a high note after losing the last 22 games.
- The last win for WVWC came on November 23 against Frostburg State.
- Nicole Gilyard leads the team in scoring (12.0 PPG), while Cierra Tolbert paces the team in rebounding (7.4).
- While Davis & Elkins has not been particularly strong from three-point range this season, the Senators may have a chance to exploit the Bobcats, who rank 300 of 304 NCAA DII teams in three-point field goal defense (36.5%).
- The Bobcats score just 59.9 points/game and allow 81.1 points/game.
