THE OPENING TIP
Opening a stretch which will see three games at home this week, Davis & Elkins women's basketball closes out its nonconference season on Monday evening against Alderson Broaddus. AROUND THE LEAGUE
SERIES HISTORY
  • All-Time Series: Davis & Elkins leads 13-6 (as of 2011)
  • Last Meeting: February 2, 2019 – Davis & Elkins 60, Alderson Broaddus 52 | Box Score | Recap
  • How It Happened: Much like she has done throughout her junior season, Jamiyah Johnson led the Senators with a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Jay Kilpatrick added 13 points as the balanced Senators used a big second quarter to create separation from Alderson Broaddus. The victory handed the Senators the season sweep of the Battlers in G-MAC play, previously recording a 66-55 win in Elkins on December 6, 2018.

DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • Davis & Elkins mustered just 13 points in the second half against Concord, including five in the fourth quarter in an 82-47 loss to Concord. Riley Fitzwater was one block shy of a triple-double for the Mountain Lions.
  • Jamiyah Johnson continues to rack up double-doubles along the low block for D&E, recording her tenth straight last time out. She leads the Senators in scoring (20.1), rebounding (14.1) and field goal percentage (.574).
  • Jessica Eadsforth-Yates made two three-pointers for D&E, but the Senators were held to five or less makes from beyond the arc for the 10th time this season.
  • D&E lost the rebounding battle for the second consecutive game against Concord after previously outrebounding its last eight opponents.
  • Sydney Nestor has scored nine or more in five straight games but has become another key rebounder for D&E, averaging 5.4 boards over that span.
  • D&E passed out a season low six assists against Concord.

SCOUTING ALDERSON BROADDUS
  • Faced with the announcement of its home arena being closed for repairs, Alderson Broadus will be on the "road" for the foreseeable future. The Battlers will play several of their scheduled home games in Elkins over the next few weeks.
  • Losing five straight, the Battlers dropped a pair of G-MAC games against Kentucky Wesleyan (60-47) and Walsh (97-50) last Thursday and Saturday.
  • Hannah Henderson has logged over 500 minutes this season, leading the team in scoring average (13.6) and rebounding average (6.1).
  • Yolanda Florido also averages double digits in scoring for AB at 11.5 points/game.
  • Alderson Broaddus is sixth in the G-MAC in scoring margin (-5.3), 11th in rebounding margin (4.4) and fifth in turnover margin (1.13).
  • The Battlers have collected some impressive wins prior to their most recent slide, including victories against Pitt-Johnstown (79-70) and Salem (W. Va.) (86-66).
