DAVIS & ELKINS NOTES
  • D&E begins its first season as a member of the Mountain East Conference in 2019-20 and will have to replace about 60% of its offense from last season.
  • Head coach Jason Asbell is set for his 12th season at the helm of the Senators. He is the longest tenured coach in the Senators athletic department.
  • The Senators had their lone tune-up of the preseason with an exhibition against NCAA DI Northern Kentucky on October 31.
  • D&E welcomes back starters Jamiyah Johnson (8.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 55.1 FG% in 2018-19) and Jay Kilpatrick (7.9 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 35.5 FG% in 2018-19) from last season and will rely on the upperclassmen duo this season. Johnson ranked second in the G-MAC in rebounding last season, averaging 7.9 rebounds/game and first in offensive rebounding with 3.4 rebounds/game.
  • Jessica Eadsforth-Yates, a transfer from Georgia Highlands College, impressed in her D&E debut against Northern Kentucky with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
  • Courtney Roth, Sydney Nestor and Tailyn Silver are also returning for another year with the Senators basketball program.
  • Davis & Elkins was tabbed ninth in the 2019-20 MEC Preseason Poll released in late October.

SCOUTING IUP
  • IUP enters the 2019-20 season picked ninth in the WBCA Top 25 Poll following a 30-4 season and trip to the Final Four in 2018-19. The Crimson Hawks have been ranked in the preseason coaches' poll for three consecutive seasons and were also tabbed as the favorites to win the PSAC West in 2019-20.
  • Head coach Tom McConnell is in his seventh season at the helm of the Crimson Hawks women's basketball program, and has notched an impressive 148-38 (.796) record over that span.
  • IUP welcomes back two starters from last year's NCAA Final Four squad in Lexi Griggs (10.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 57.5 FG% in 2018-19) and Natalie Myers (7.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 40.5 FG% in 2018-19).
  • The Crimson Hawks will need to replace several key players from last year's team, including seniors Carolyn Appleby, Brittany Robinson, Lauren Wolosik and Kendall Hunter.

SCOUTING MANSFIELD
  • Mansfield is looking to bounce back from a 3-23 season in 2018-19, which included just one conference win.
  • Head coach Michael Whitling is in his fourth season after guiding the Mounties to the playoffs in just his second season at the helm.
  • The junior tandem of Paige Whitfield and Kira Merritt are captains for the 2019-20 season after combining for 51 games last season. Whitfield averaged nearly 30 minutes per contest last season and had nine double figure scoring games.
