Men Nab First While Women’s Swimming Finishes Third at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio - Keeping the same results at the end of day one to finish out the Corbiere-Merion Invitational in Ohio, the Senators men's swimming team earned first place in the team standings and the women's team completed the event in third.

A busy weekend for the Senators, the invitational consisted of 42 total events.

The men's 400-yard medley relay team of Geoff Dixon, Chris Carter, Vignesh Muley and Carl Eisen cruised to a win in 3:47.56, finishing almost three seconds faster than second-place Ohio Wesleyan. Barbara Bernal and Dru Mills went five and six, respectively, in the women's 100-yard IM in 1:07.42 and 1:07.93.

In a competitive men's 50-yard freestyle race, Kamren McKinney-Lions (22.21), Jiwh Santos (22.50) and Eisen (22.54) nabbed the four, five and six spots of 29 individuals. Jaime Boulier was one of four Senators in the top five of the women's 1650 yard freestyle as she earned first in 18:33.04. Mia Ellison (18:45.79) was third, Bernal (19:03.77) fourth and Mills (19:37.67) in the distance event.

On the men's side, Ryan Clement picked up third in the 1650 yard freestyle in 17:28,76, followed by his teammate Muley in fourth (17:49.29).

Hosted by Ohio Wesleyan, the invitational honors the memory of Payson Cornier and T'ai Merion, who were members of the Ohio Wesleyan men's swimming team.

Davis & Elkins returns home for the Senators Duals on December 7 from the Myles Center Pool. The men's team welcomes Frostburg State while the women will compete against Frostburg and Cal U (Pa.). The meet is a Code Red event, where student-athletes and other fans are encouraged to wear red and also will serve as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which will include a moment of silence prior to the meet. The Senator Duals will be the penultimate home event for the Senators and final meet of the 2019 calendar year.
