DELEWARE, Ohio – Davis & Elkins swimming has itself in a solid spot heading into the final day of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday. Through two sessions on day one, the Senators are in first place in the team standings on the men's side and third place on the women's side.
Jaime Boulier won the women's 500-yard freestyle and also earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.68) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.72), swimming faster times in the finals than her seed time.
Mia Ellison (5:32.68),
Dru Mills (5:39.10) and
Jana Hummel (5:40.42) all had top-10 finishes in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing fourth, seventh and ninth respectively.
D&E and West Virginia Wesleyan accounted for each of the first nine finishers in the men's 100-yard butterfly.
Vignesh Muley (2nd),
Gavin Burnham (5th), EJ Wright (8th) and
Kalvin Spells (8th) all recorded finishes in the top 10 of the event. Muley swam to a third-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle, completing the event in 1:49.40.
Geoff Dixon was third in the 200-yard IM, finishing behind two members of Ohio Wesleyan, while
Jiwh Santos was third in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.24. The D&E women's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Ellison, Mills, Hummel and Boulier was third (8:26.95), while the men's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Dixon,
Ryan Clement, Muley and Santos was second in 7:19.27.
The event concludes tomorrow, beginning at 10:00 AM. There will be no live stream and results and a full recap will be posted when they become available.
