Canton, Ohio – February 12, 2025 – The Davis & Elkins College men's and women's swim teams opened competition at the 2025 Great Midwest & Mountain East Conference Swimming Championships at the C.T. Branin Natatorium, turning in several standout performances on Day 1.
Key Individual Performances
Men's 200-Yard Individual Medley (IM)
Freshman Lasse Schrieken (Veenendaal, Netherlands) delivered a fantastic swim in the Men's 200 IM, capturing 3rd place with a time of 1:54.57. With this podium finish, he was crowned the MEC Champion and earned First-Team All-MEC honors.
Sophomore Payton Williamson also had a strong race, finishing 7th in 1:58.60, earning Honorable Mention All-MEC recognition.
Women's 50-Yard Freestyle
The Senators placed three swimmers in the top 25 in the Women's 50 Free:
Men's 50-Yard Freestyle
Junior Elie Content had a solid swim, finishing 16th with a time of 21.87. His performance earned him Honorable Mention All-MEC honors.
Men's 1000-Yard Freestyle
Senior Ricardo Salas had a strong swim, finishing in 21st place (11th in the MEC) with a time of 11:48.97.
Relay Highlights
Women's 200-Yard Medley Relay
The D&E A-Team, featuring Daphne McCann, Maria Lugo, Lauren Lockwood, and Savannah Foley, placed 8th with a time of 1:54.22, earning 44 team points.
Women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay
The D&E A-Team, featuring Daphne McCann, Maria Lugo, Lauren Lockwood, and Savannah Foley, placed 8th with a time of 1:54.22, earning 44 team points.
Men's 200-Yard Medley Relay
The Men's A-Team, consisting of Ricardo Salas, Xavier Brown, Josiah Church-Corley, and Spencer Willey, claimed 7th place with a time of 1:40.54.
Women's 200-Yard Freestyle Relay
The Women's A-Team, consisting of Becca Rodrigues, Julia Viera-Vasconcelos, Emma Andrews, and Jolie McGaughan, claimed 8th place with a time of 1:49.38.
Team Standings – Day 1
The D&E men's team sits in 6th place with 151 points, just two points behind Salem University. On the women's side, the Senators are 8th with 111 points, with Salem narrowly ahead at 115.
