FAIRMONT, W. Va. -- The Davis & Elkins College swimming team competed against Fairmont State and Salem, highlighted by standout performances and a new pool record.
In the 400 medley relay, the D&E women's A team, composed of Emily Durst, Maria Lugo, Maximillia Sutherland, and Becca Rodrigues, placed second with a time of 4:51.25. The men's relay team took third.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Payton Williamson finished second for the Senators in the men's event with a time of 10:35.80.
In the 200 freestyle, Savannah Foley led the D&E women's team with a second-place finish in 2:09.53, followed closely by Julianne Hobson, who placed fourth. For the men, Elie Content was the top finisher for D&E, taking fifth place in 1:56.52.
Daphine McCann led the way for D&E in the 50 freestyle for the women, finishing third with a time of 26.96. Lauren Lockwood followed in sixth place. Edwin Li claimed victory in the men's 50 freestyle with a time of 22.25.
In the 100 butterfly, Hobson and Lockwood took the top two spots for D&E, with Hobson finishing first in 1:02.95 and Lockwood second in 1:04.34.
In the men's 100 freestyle, Li finished third in 50.31, with Jose Robles placing seventh.
In a record-breaking 100 breaststroke performance, Li not only took first place but also set a new pool record with a time of 56.52, marking the fastest time in the Mountain East Conference this season and the second-fastest time in the GMAC/MEC, only behind a swimmer from the University of Findlay. Robles also competed well, finishing fifth in 1:04.82.
