ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's and women's swimming teams showcased strong performances at the D&E tri-meet on Saturday, October 26, with standout swims across various events against West Virginia Wesleyan College and PennWest California.
The women's team took an early lead in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Daphne McCann, Maria Lugo, Julianne Hobson, and Savannah Foley clocking in at 1:56.99 to claim first place. In individual events, Julianne Hobson impressed in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 2:09.95, while Emily Durst secured third in the grueling 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in 12:44.37.
On the men's side, Payton Williamson led in the 200-yard freestyle with a winning time of 1:51.94. Freshman Elie Content excelled in the 50-yard freestyle, winning in 22.61. In the 100-yard butterfly, Williamson continued his streak, topping the field in 54.44.
In the 200-yard IM, Edwin Li powered to first place for the Senators, completing the race in 2:07.66. He later dominated the 100-yard breaststroke with a remarkable 58.27, establishing a strong lead for D&E. Teammate Jose Robles followed up with a competitive time of 1:08.33, securing second in the event.
Both teams finished the meet with solid relay performances. The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team, comprising Emily Durst, Emma Andrews, Jolie McGaughan, and Julia Vieira, placed second with a time of 1:53.56.
