Swimming Wraps Up Day Three of G-MAC/MEC Swimming Championships

CANTON, Ohio – February 13, 2025 – The Davis & Elkins College swim teams continued competition at the G-MAC/MEC Swimming Championships at C.T. Branin Natatorium, securing multiple top finishes, a new school record, and a conference title.

Men's Highlights
Lasse Schrieken headlined the day for the Senators, claiming the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.35. His first-place finish earned him First-Team All-MEC honors and 25 points for D&E.

In the men's 200-yard butterfly, Payton Williamson secured a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:55.56, earning Second-Team All-MEC honors and 24 points. Teammate Elie Content finished 19th in the event at 2:06.88, contributing six points to the team's total.

The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Schrieken, Content, Spencer Willey, and Williamson placed sixth with a time of 7:22.24, earning Honorable Mention All-MEC and 48 points.

Other contributors included Willey, who finished 19th in the 100-yard backstroke (57.64) for six points, and Ricardo Salas, who placed 23rd (1:01.25) for two points. In the men's 500-yard freestyle, Josiah Church-Corley took 21st (7:13.91), adding four points.

Women's Highlights
Julianne Hobson set a new school record in the 200-yard butterfly, placing 10th with a time of 2:15.81 and securing 17 points for the Senators. Lauren Lockwood finished 13th in the same event with a time of 2:18.56, adding 14 points.

Maria Lugo delivered a strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing 15th with a time of 1:11.36 and earning 12 points. Becca Rodrigues placed 22nd (1:13.43) with three points, while Julia Viera took 24th (1:18.10) and added one point.

The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team of Savannah Foley, Emily Durst, Lockwood, and Hobson placed seventh with a time of 8:26.72, contributing 46 points to the team total.

In the women's 100-yard backstroke, Daphne McCann finished 23rd with a time of 1:03.16, adding two points.

The Senators return to the pool for the final day of competition tomorrow (Feb. 15) as they look to close out the G-MAC/MEC Championships on a high note.
