Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – The Senators Women's Soccer Team fell to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks Tuesday evening, 1-2.
After a scoreless first half, the hosts capitalized on a pair of defensive mistakes by the Senators.
Lexie Palluconi was able to chip the keeper after a long through bal gave her a breakaway attempt five minutes into the second half.
15 minutes later, Kiersten Zerbe capitalized on a rebound left in front of goal after failed clearance attempt. Zerbe put it away to double the lead.
Ellie Rossiter was able to cut the deficit back to one with a late goal. Rossiter took
Asheli Freed's pass and but it into the top of the net for her first goal of the year.
In the first half, the Senators played even with the hosts, trading chances at either end of the field.
Katrina Giantsopoulos and
Asheli Freed recorded the shots on target for the visitors, but were unable to push one past Jessica Printz.
At the other end,
Lauren Hill came up with a pair of crucial saves on breakaway attempts by the Crimson Hawks.
The first attempt was caught cleanly by Hill and the second was pushed away and the rebound attempt was cleared out by the backline for a throw.
The Senators will return to action on Thursday when they travel up to Pepper Pike, Ohio to face Ursuline College in the first Great-Midwest Athletic Conference contest of the season for the Red and White.
