ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College women's basketball head coach Alison McCarthy has announced the addition of Brian Wilson to the Senators' coaching staff.

Wilson brings more than 20 years of experience in athletics, education and student development to the D&E program. He currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students at Davis & Elkins College, a position he has held since June 2024. His familiarity with the D&E campus, students and community will provide an added connection as he joins the women's basketball staff.

"I am excited to welcome Brian to our coaching staff," McCarthy said. "Brian brings a proven record of leadership, a strong commitment to culture, and valuable collegiate coaching experience, including his previous experience as a head coach at Regent University. His ability to develop student-athletes, build meaningful relationships, and create a positive, competitive environment aligns extremely well with the vision of our program. I am confident Brian will be an outstanding addition to our staff and will play an important role in providing our student-athletes with a high-quality collegiate basketball experience."

Wilson previously served as the head women's basketball coach at Regent University from 2021-24. He also has extensive experience coaching at the high school and youth levels, including multiple head coaching positions in Virginia.

During his coaching career, Wilson has led teams to district and regional championships and was named Coach of the Year during his tenure at Louisa County High School. As head coach at Buckingham County High School, he compiled a 69-19 overall record, including district and regional championships and a trip to the state Final Four. He was also selected to coach in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game.

In addition to his coaching experience, Wilson holds a Master of Arts in Education in Special Education from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Virginia.

Wilson said he is eager to get to work with McCarthy and the Senators.

"I'm ready to do work to help Coach Mac build something special," Wilson said. "My passion for coaching is and always will be a part of me, and competition and winning is running through my blood. I want the work and the product to speak."

Wilson's addition to the coaching staff continues McCarthy's efforts to build a competitive women's basketball program centered on student-athlete development, relationships and a strong team culture.
