Davis and Elkins College Athletics

Alison McCarthy was named head women’s basketball coach at Davis & Elkins College in May 2026.

McCarthy joined the Senators after serving as assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Bellarmine University. She previously was head women’s basketball coach at Muskingum University and also served as assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

At the high school level, McCarthy was assistant boys basketball coach and head girls basketball coach at Woodward High School and head girls basketball coach at Beechwood High School.

During her coaching career, McCarthy helped lead programs to multiple conference and district championships and earned Division III Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and 2012. She also received the Impact Award at the 2024 NCAA WeCOACH Academy and completed the NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy.

McCarthy earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Kentucky University and is a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
