Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio — The Davis & Elkins College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Tiffin University on Saturday at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
The Senators, now 1-0-1 on the season, fell behind early when Tiffin's Taylor Iden found the back of the net in the second minute, giving the Dragons a 1-0 advantage.
Davis & Elkins responded late in the opening half when freshman Meghan Andersen scored her first collegiate goal in the 44th minute to level the match at 1-1. Andersen entered the match just 31 seconds before finding the back of the net, providing an immediate impact off the bench.
The Senators carried the momentum into the second half but neither team was able to break the deadlock, as the match finished 1-1.
Luisa Camara played all 90 minutes in goal for D&E and recorded five saves. The Senators finished with 10 shots, including six on goal, and held an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Jemma Creed and Brenda Castro each recorded two shots for the Senators, with both of Creed's attempts on goal. Andersen's lone shot of the match resulted in the game-tying goal.
Tiffin finished with 12 shots, placing seven on goal. Gianna Parmentier made five saves for the Dragons.
Davis & Elkins returns to action Thursday, Sept. 3, traveling to Frostburg State University for a Mountain East Conference matchup. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Frostburg, Maryland.
