ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College Athletics Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2026, celebrating six outstanding individuals and one historic team whose achievements left a lasting mark on Senator athletics.

The Class of 2026 includes: Michael Urbati '00 (cross country and tennis), Heather Quick '92 (softball), Jacqueline Elizabeth Krum '10 (women's soccer), Marlon Charles '85 (men's soccer), Douglas D. Crosier '78 (baseball), Robert Back '59 (men's basketball and baseball), and the 1981 women's field hockey team.

Michael Urbati '00 – Cross Country and Tennis

Michael Urbati was a four-year member of the D&E cross country team and also competed in tennis during his senior year. During his cross country career, Urbati earned WVIAC All-Conference honors four times, establishing himself as one of the top runners in the conference during his time as a Senator. He was coached by Will Shaw and Lee Underwood.

Among Urbati's favorite memories from D&E were earning All-Conference honors and the time spent with his teammates. He graduated with a degree in biology and went on to build a career in health care pharmacy.

Urbati has worked in pharmacy departments for more than 20 years at two of Boston's top hospitals, Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel. He currently serves as a Pharmacy 340B Compliance Technician and pharmacy data analyst for the 340B program at Harbor Health Community Health Center in his hometown of Dorchester.

Heather Quick '92 – Softball

Heather Quick was a standout pitcher and third baseman for the D&E softball team, earning numerous honors throughout her career. She was named to the 1989 WVIAC All-Tournament Team and earned WVIAC honorable mention recognition that same season. Quick was named team captain and MVP in 1991 before earning WVIAC Player of the Week and First Team All-Conference honors in 1992. She was also named D&E's Women's Athlete of the Year in 1992. Quick played for coaches Kathy Gutmann, Lisa Farley and Deanna Tyson.

Quick continued her involvement in softball following her playing career. From 2009-22, she served as an assistant softball coach at Bellwood-Antis High School, helping the program win District Championships in 2012 and 2015. She became the school's head softball coach in 2023 and guided the program to another District Championship in 2026.

Quick earned her degree in sport management from D&E and has built a career in health care. She currently serves as a senior practice manager, managing clinical and clerical staff at UPMC and helping ensure patients receive quality health care and services.

One of Quick's most memorable moments as a Senator came during her senior season, when she pitched a no-hitter but saw her team lose the game.

Jacqueline Elizabeth Krum '10 – Women's Soccer

Jacqueline Elizabeth Krum was a standout goalkeeper for D&E women's soccer, earning All-WVIAC honors in each of her first two seasons. Krum was named to the All-WVIAC Second Team in 2007 and 2008 and was the recipient of the FOSS ACE (Achievement, Commitment, Excellence) Award in 2008-09. She also helped the Senators capture the 2009 regular-season championship. Krum played for coaches Mat Santoro and Raul Ovalle.

A standout student as well as an athlete, Krum graduated from D&E in 2010 as a summa cum laude graduate and salutatorian with a degree in elementary education and minors in history and social sciences. She later earned a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University in 2012.

Krum has built a career in education and currently serves as a school-based technology specialist. She provides leadership, planning, coaching, instruction and instructional support to educators as they integrate technology to support student learning and achievement.

Among Krum's favorite memories from her time at D&E was preseason camp at Camp Horseshoe during her freshman year. What started with a coach trying to get her excited about camp and a teammate describing the food as "gross" became a memorable team-building experience. Spending a week together through three-a-day practices helped create the team bond that Krum remembers fondly from her time as a Senator.

Marlon Charles '85 – Men's Soccer

Marlon Charles was a standout midfielder and forward for the D&E men's soccer program, earning All-American and All-Conference recognition during his career. He played for coach Nils Heinke and credits his time at D&E with helping create relationships with teammates that became lifelong friendships.

After graduating with a degree in health and physical education, Charles built a career as a teacher, teaching health and physical education at the high school level before retiring. His involvement in soccer continued well beyond his playing days, including coaching and leadership roles in Trinidad and Tobago.

Charles has worked with the Trinidad and Tobago women's senior, under-20, under-17 and under-15 national teams and served as a FIFA High Performance head coach. He has also been head coach of Real Maracas and worked as a coaching education tutor.

Outside of soccer, Charles has pursued music, performing with Mungal Patasar and Pantar and touring internationally. Among his favorite memories from D&E was arriving on campus and trying to find his way around on his first day, as well as playing alongside his teammates and developing relationships that lasted a lifetime.

Douglas D. Crosier '78 – Baseball

Douglas D. Crosier was a four-year varsity baseball player at D&E from 1974-78, competing as a pitcher and outfielder. During his sophomore season, Crosier was named team MVP and received special honorable mention as a WVIAC pitcher. He played for coach Dave Barb, who helped Crosier develop as a pitcher throughout his collegiate career.

Crosier carried the lessons he learned at D&E into a lengthy career in baseball and business. He spent 17 years as a varsity baseball assistant coach at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester, Vermont, continuing his involvement in the game after his playing career.

Today, Crosier is the owner of Battenkill Post and Beam, a custom residential and light commercial timber framing company. Among his most memorable experiences at D&E were learning the finer points of pitching from Barb and gradually learning, over four years, the value of perseverance and how to win from his teammates.

Robert Back '59 – Men's Basketball and Baseball

Robert Back was a four-year student-athlete at D&E, competing in both baseball and men's basketball from 1956-59. A leader on the basketball court, Back served as co-captain of the 1959 Senators team, which put together one of the most successful tournament runs in D&E basketball history.

Ranked ninth in the conference entering the 1959 tournament, the Senators defeated Fairmont by 13 points in the opening round before upsetting Morris Harvey by two points in the second round. D&E then defeated fourth-seeded Bluefield State by 10 points in the semifinals before falling to West Virginia Wesleyan in the conference championship game.

Back also played four years of baseball from 1956-59. Beyond athletics, he was active in campus life, holding class offices and serving as vice president of his fraternity. His time at D&E was marked by leadership both on the court and across campus, highlighted by his role as co-captain of a 1959 basketball team that helped establish one of the strongest seasons in the program's history during that era.

1981 Women's Field Hockey Team – AIAW National Third Place

The 1981 D&E women's field hockey team established itself as one of the most successful teams in program history, finishing the season with a 17-1-1 record and an undefeated regular season. Under coach Jean Taillman, the Senators won the Longwood Invitational and Midwest Tournament before advancing to the AIAW National Tournament. The team's third-place finish represented the highest national finish in D&E field hockey history.

D&E opened the national tournament with a 1-0 double-overtime victory over the University of Virginia, with Carol Kemmerle scoring the game-winning goal off an assist from Sue Lapriore. The Senators then fell to Temple University, 5-1, in the semifinals before defeating the University of Iowa, 2-1, to claim third place nationally. Cathy Carney, Lapriore and Norma Wright were named to the All-Championship Team, while Kemmerle was selected as South Jersey Collegiate Player of the Year. The 1981 team finished the season with a 17-1-1 record and established a standard that surpassed all previous D&E field hockey teams.

The Class of 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the McDonnell Center.
