Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. — The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Frostburg State on Sunday in its first Mountain East Conference matchup of the season at Bobcat Stadium.
The Senators (1-0-1, 0-0-1 MEC) fell behind in the 37th minute when Frostburg's Frank Stare converted a penalty kick to give the Bobcats a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Davis & Elkins responded in the second half, with freshman defender Lautaro Fernandez finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute to level the match. Johan Magaña provided the assist on Fernandez's first goal of the season.
The Senators controlled much of the offensive action, finishing with an 18-5 advantage in shots and a 9-1 edge in shots on goal. D&E also earned five corner kicks compared to one for Frostburg.
Charlie Phillips played all 90 minutes in goal for the Senators, recording one save.
Fernandez led D&E with three shots, including two on goal and the game-tying goal. Magaña registered five shots, with four on target, while Francisco Lopez Kreik and Dino Andreozzi each added two shots.
The draw marked D&E's first MEC result of the season as the Senators continue their early-season schedule.

Davis & Elkins will make its home debut Wednesday, Sept. 9, against Seton Hill University. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Nuttall Field in Elkins.
