ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College men's soccer team opened its home schedule with a 3-2 victory over Seton Hill University on Wednesday at Nuttall Field.

The Senators improved to 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Mountain East Conference play with the win, while Seton Hill fell to 1-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in MEC action.

D&E struck first in the eighth minute when Johan Magaña found the back of the net off an assist from Hugo Fauli to give the Senators a 1-0 advantage.

Seton Hill answered shortly after halftime, with Rafael Santos scoring in the 46th minute to even the match at 1-1.

The Senators regained the lead in the 58th minute when Fauli scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Abdourhaman Faye.

Seton Hill once again pulled even in the 79th minute as Ben Conti scored off an assist from Santos.

D&E responded just over two minutes later, with the Senators finding the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute. The goal was credited as a Seton Hill own goal, giving D&E a 3-2 advantage that it would hold through the final whistle.

The Senators controlled much of the offensive action, finishing with a 25-5 advantage in shots and a 17-2 edge in shots on goal. D&E also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Charlie Phillips made one save in goal for the Senators while allowing two goals. Seton Hill goalkeeper Jannik Reiss recorded 15 saves.

Magaña recorded two shots on goal and Fauli finished with four shots on goal to lead the D&E attack. Francisco Lopez Kreik added three shots on goal.

D&E will return to the road Saturday for an MEC matchup at Point Park University. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
