MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins men's and women's track and field delivered a strong three-day performance at the 2026 Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships, highlighted by multiple individual conference champions, meet records, and podium finishes.
The Senators saw success across distance and middle-distance events, with the women finishing seventh overall with 66 points and the men also placing seventh with 53 points in the 10-team field.
On the men's side, senior Jordan Thomas claimed a Mountain East Conference title in the 10,000 meters, winning the event in 31:40.62. Thomas also added a runner-up finish in the 5000 meters (14:47.41), scoring a total of 18 points across the two events. Senior Cooper Gibson delivered a strong performance in the 1500 meters, finishing second with a meet-record and personal-best time of 3:52.24, while freshman Fletcher van Heuven placed fifth (3:55.77).
In the 800 meters, senior Tommy Bildheiser earned a third-place finish in 1:54.41, while freshman Max Wildbore added an eighth-place finish after posting the top preliminary time of 1:52.99. Konnor Allison contributed a third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:39.34), and Andrew Bowen placed sixth in the 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 32:15.26.
Junior Ian Wood competed in both hurdle events, placing fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15:07 after running 14.85 in the prelims. Wood also qualified for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best 55.51 but did not finish the final.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Fletcher van Heuven, Tommy Bildheiser, Cooper Gibson, and Tristan Blatt placed sixth with a season-best time of 3:26.59.
On the women's side, senior Lauren Twyman captured a Mountain East Conference title in the 1500 meters, winning in 4:36.02. She also placed sixth in the 800 meters (2:20.26) and added points in the 5000 meters with a seventh-place finish (18:13.00).
The Senators dominated the women's 5000 meters, sweeping the top three spots. Freshman Jeanne Pelissier won the conference championship with a meet-record time of 17:19.21. Junior Rebecca Tellez finished second with a personal-best and meet-record 17:22.48, while senior Savanna Hardman placed third in 17:31.01, also a meet-record performance.
Pelissier also placed fifth in the 1500 meters (4:41.52), while Hardman added a third-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:36.73). Sierra Taylor recorded a personal-best fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:28.19) and competed in multiple events for the Senators.
Tellez added a second-place finish in the 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 37:11.21, while Brooke Jacobs scored in the same event with a sixth-place finish (39:10.41).
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Taytum Walls, Sierra Taylor, Quinn Hazelett, and F. Morin placed eighth with a time of 4:27.14.
Davis & Elkins will now await potential qualifiers for upcoming postseason competition.
