ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College has announced the promotion of Tycen Allan to Head Coach of the Senators men's lacrosse program. Allan, a former standout student-athlete at D&E, spent the 2024-25 season as the team's assistant coach and defensive coordinator.
"We're thrilled to elevate Tycen into the head coaching role," said Director of Athletics Dr. Jennifer Riggleman. "His leadership, deep knowledge of the game, and passion for the program made this an easy decision."
Allan's coaching background includes experience with several premier lacrosse organizations, including Elev8 Lacrosse, Calgary Field Lacrosse, and the High River Heat Lacrosse Association. During his time with Elev8, he worked alongside former professionals Geoff and Bob Snider, contributing to defensive strategy, player development, and playbook design for one of Western Canada's top travel programs.
Before beginning his coaching career, Allan was a decorated player. He started in minor box lacrosse with the High River Heat and went on to serve as captain of the Junior B-Tier 1 Okotoks Marauders, guiding his teams to multiple playoff runs. In field lacrosse, he competed with Calgary Field Lacrosse and Elev8 from 2014 to 2018 before enrolling at Davis & Elkins.
As a Senator, Allan was a four-year starter on defense and team captain his final two seasons. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and minors in Criminology and GIS.
Allan will now lead the program he once helped build as a player, bringing full circle his journey with D&E lacrosse.
"I am both grateful and honored for the opportunity to lead the program at my alma mater," Allan said. "I'm excited to bring my past experiences and knowledge of the game to help shape the future of the men's lacrosse program here at Davis & Elkins College."
