ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse made a late push but could not overcome a first-half scoring barrage from Northwood, falling 25-11 Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action.
The Senators (2-14, 1-7 G-MAC) scored five goals in the final quarter, showing resilience after falling behind 15-4 at the half. Xzavier Jankowiak and Charlie Taylor each scored twice to lead the Senators' attack. JayC Morlog netted a man-up goal in the fourth, assisted by Jankowiak, and added one ground ball.
D&E spread the scoring among eight different players. Tanner Delorme and Jordan Delorme each posted a goal and an assist, while Nate Duffy and Chuck Kretchman also found the back of the net. Devon Garcia and Matthew Smith added one goal apiece.
The Senators struggled with possession, losing 27 of 39 faceoffs. Goalie Avery Linthicum made 22 saves on 47 shots on goal while facing 61 total attempts. Despite the scoreline, D&E picked up 49 ground balls and successfully cleared the ball 23 times.
D&E wraps up the regular season on the road on Tuesday, April 22 at Wheeling University.
