ELKINS, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins College men's lacrosse hung tough for three quarters before a fourth-quarter surge by Walsh led to a 24-6 setback on Wednesday evening at Nuttall Field.
The Senators matched the Cavaliers with three goals in the third period to trail 10-6 entering the final frame. However, Walsh exploded for 14 unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to seal the Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory.
Chuck Kretchman and Tanner Delorme each netted two goals to lead D&E offensively. JayC Morlog and Devon Garcia added one goal apiece, with Garcia also contributing an assist. Charlie Taylor, Anthony Mann-Fry and Garcia also chipped in assists.
Faceoff specialist Justin Kearney won seven draws and collected five ground balls, while Matthew Smith led the defensive effort with seven ground balls and one caused turnover. Goalie Avery Linthicum registered 27 saves against 73 total shots faced.
D&E (2-13, 1-6 MEC) will host its final regular season home game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Northwood.
