CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of Charleston on Friday afternoon in Mountain East Conference play.
Charleston came out strong in doubles, earning the point with dominant performances across all three courts. Erin Laubscher and Fabienne Lahn fell 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Liebe Oosthuizen and Karen Saucedo were shut out 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, Lilly Wentzler and Eloise Hutton dropped their match 6-1 as the Golden Eagles swept doubles play.
In singles competition, the Senators battled but were unable to secure a win. Oosthuizen pushed her opponent at No. 3 singles to three sets after taking the opening frame 6-2, but ultimately fell 3-6, 1-6 in the final two sets. At the top of the lineup, Lahn and Laubscher dropped their matches in straight sets.
