HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Davis & Elkins College women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 5-0 win by forfeit over King University before falling to Lincoln Memorial University, 7-0, in a doubleheader on Sunday, February 23.
The Senators' match with King was over before it began, as the home team was short-handed and had to forfeit as a result.
Lincoln Memorial Too Strong in Nightcap
In the second match of the day, the Senators faced a tough challenge against Lincoln Memorial, falling 7-0. Despite the loss, D&E fought hard in doubles play, with Wentzler and Leona Gemmel narrowly losing 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the Senators battled but could not overcome the strong play of the Railsplitters, dropping all six matches in straight sets.
