Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Davis & Elkins men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season in commanding fashion, defeating Shorter University 13-4 on Saturday afternoon at Emmanuel University.
The Senators (1-1) set the tone early, scoring six unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looking back. Tanner Delorme led the charge with a game-high four goals and two assists, while Matthew Smith added a strong performance with three goals and two assists.
D&E controlled possession throughout the contest, outshooting Shorter 51-25 and placing 29 shots on goal. The Senators also won the ground ball battle, securing 35 to Shorter's 24.
Charlie Taylor and Xzavier Jankowiak each recorded three points, with Taylor tallying a goal and two assists, and Jankowiak netting three goals. Chuck Kretchman and JayC Morlog also contributed a goal apiece, with Kretchman adding an assist.
On the defensive end, Jacob Wilson was solid in goal, making nine saves while allowing just three goals. The Senators' defense forced 17 turnovers and held Shorter scoreless in the first half.
