Men's And Women's Swim Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Award

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Davis & Elkins College men's and women's swimming teams have been recognized by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Scholar All-America Teams for their outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2024 semester.

"It is with extreme pride that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to both the Men's and Women's Swim teams for once again achieving the Scholar All-American awarded by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association," said Director of Athletics, Dr. Jennifer Riggleman.  "This award demonstrates Coach Nikki Rose's commitment to recruiting student athletes who excel in both the classroom and the pool, and is an excellent reward for the hard work these student athletes have been putting in academically. Education is one of the foundational pillars of the D&E athletic department, and these two teams are exemplifying this endeavor."

The women's swimming team posted an impressive 3.59 cumulative grade point average (GPA), while the men's team earned a commendable 3.33 GPA. These achievements place Davis & Elkins among the 781 teams from 459 institutions honored by the CSCAA for their commitment to academic excellence. In total, 19,209 student-athletes were recognized for their scholastic success.

To qualify for this prestigious distinction, teams were required to achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2024 semester. Notably, 654 of the selected teams recorded a GPA of 3.30 or higher, earning a place in the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport Academic Standings.

"The commitment to academic excellence demonstrated by these teams is truly admirable," said Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA. "It is inspiring to see student-athletes excel both in the pool and in the classroom. The CSCAA takes great pride in honoring and celebrating their dedication and achievements."

The CSCAA extends its congratulations to all the teams and student-athletes on their remarkable accomplishments during the Fall 2024 semester. Their dedication to both athletic and academic success highlights the well-rounded excellence that defines collegiate swimming.
