ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins College women's swimming team secured a commanding 135-71 victory over Salem University, while the men's team narrowly fell 103-88 in a dual meet held at George A. Myles Pool on Saturday.
Women's Highlights
The Senators showcased depth and dominance on the women's side, sweeping multiple events:
- Savannah Foley and Daphne McCann led a 1-2 finish in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking times of 1:06.62 and 1:06.81, respectively.
- Maria Lugo and Becca Rodrigues also delivered a 1-2 finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Lugo touching in 1:15.11 and Rodrigues just behind at 1:15.20.
- Julianne Hobson claimed the top spot in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.78) and the 50-yard butterfly (27.98).
- McCann sprinted to victory in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking 26.18.
- Rodrigues added to her stellar performance with wins in the 100-yard IM (1:07.19) and the 50-yard breaststroke (33.37).
- In the 100-yard freestyle, Lauren Lockwood and Foley placed first and second with times of 58.10 and 59.23, respectively.
Men's Highlights
The men's team saw strong performances but fell just short in the team standings:
- Payton Williamson took first in the 100-yard backstroke (56.80) and placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.95).
- Lasse Schrieken excelled, winning the 100-yard butterfly (54.48), 100-yard IM (55.83), and 50-yard breaststroke (28.82).
- Elie Content finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.29) and claimed victory in the 50-yard butterfly (25.82).
Relay Races
Salem University edged out Davis & Elkins in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, with the Senators' team of Hobson, Jolie McGaughan, Emily Durst, and Lockwood finishing second in 1:48.32.
