DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Davis & Elkins College swimming teams had an impressive showing on the final day of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational. Highlight performances came from multiple top-8 finishes across the events.
For the women, standout performances included:
- Julianne Hobson's win in the 100-yard butterfly (59.61) and 200-yard butterfly (2:16.94). She placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.87).
- Daphne McCann taking the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (tied, 55.71), the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.90), and finishing second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.67).
- Maria Lugo dominated the 200-yard breaststroke with a first-place finish (2:36.05). She also took third place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.06).
- Savannah Foley took second place in the 200-yard freestyle event (2:04.24).
- Lauren Lockwood placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.17), third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.96) and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.73).
- Emma Andrews placed eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (6:09.63).
For the men:
- Payton Williamson placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.44) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (53.27).
- Edwin Li captured a win in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.81) and placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (48.92).
- Elie Content took fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle (48.87).
- Jose Robles took fourth in the 100-yard breast (1:01.42) and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.23).
Both the men's and women's relay teams contributed strong finishes, with the men's 200-yard medley relay team (Willamson, Li, Content, Robles) claiming first (1:36.81) and the women's 200-yard medley relay team A of McCann, Lugo, Hobson, and Becca Rodrigues taking second place, (1:56.19), while the B team of Emily Durst, Julia Vieira, Maximillia Sutherland, and Emma Andrews placed seventh, (2:05.29). The women's 800-yard freestyle relay team finished second (8:39.16). The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team took third place (8:02.56).
In the team standings:
- The D&E women's team won the meet with 924.5 points.
- The Davis & Elkins men finished third overall with strong contributions in both individual and relay events.
