Tennis Releases Spring Schedule

Home Matches Return To Campus For First Time Since 2022

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Davis & Elkins men's and women's tennis teams have released their spring 2025 schedules, featuring home matches on campus for the first time since 2022, along with matchups against several regional and nationally ranked opponents.

"We are excited to bring tennis back to campus this year," head coach Mark Walters said. "We recently completed renovations on our facility, and now we can host events again for our programs. It's a huge advantage for our athletes to play in front of their peers and benefit from a true home-court advantage in key matches."

Both Senators teams will open the season this weekend, on Feb. 22, with a trip to Tennessee, where they will face nationally ranked Lincoln Memorial of the South Atlantic Conference and King University. Each team will play a full slate of matches over a six-day span during spring break, including duals against regional opponents Shaw University (N.C.), Methodist College, and top Division III program North Carolina Wesleyan. Nationally ranked Belmont Abbey College (N.C.) and Barton College (N.C.) round out the trip before the Senators return home for a regional battle against Bloomsburg University (Pa.).

The University of Charleston, ranked in the top 15 nationally in Division II, highlights a six-match Mountain East Conference (MEC) slate that begins in April. The schedule also features regionally ranked opponents Fairmont State and West Virginia Wesleyan. The Senators will host Frostburg State and West Virginia State in key conference matchups as they aim to qualify for the MEC Tournament for the first time since joining the league. West Virginia State will visit Elkins on April 19 in a pivotal MEC showdown.

MEC rival West Liberty will also travel to Elkins in March for the Senators' senior day match, while Davis & Elkins will visit West Liberty on March 1 to begin conference play.

The nonconference schedule includes matchups against Salem, California (Pa.), Chestnut Hill, and Bluefield State, as both teams look to improve their regional standing and secure a coveted NCAA Atlantic Regional berth.

"We've made progress over the past two seasons, and last year was a valuable experience for our young teams," Walters said. "We still have just one senior in each lineup, and our incoming recruiting classes have provided the talent and depth we needed. If we come together and embrace the challenge, we have the potential to be a dangerous team."
