Cuevas Represents Puerto Rico at Inaugural Women's Heritage Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Over Memorial Day Weekend, more than 15 countries competed in the Heritage Cup on the campus of Haverford College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Representing Puerto Rico was Marissa Cuevas, a 2024 D&E women's lacrosse graduate, who played as the starting goalie for the country of her family heritage.

The Heritage Cup is a tournament that primarily provides opportunities for U.S.-based athletes to contribute to the development of international lacrosse by raising awareness, funds, and participating in equipment drives. Although the Heritage Cup has been held for many years, 2024 marked the first time the tournament included a women's game.

In this inaugural women's tournament, Marissa and her team finished in sixth place. The team will continue to prepare for the upcoming World Lacrosse Championships.

"Thank you, Marissa, for continuing to represent Davis & Elkins College at the international level. We are all so proud of you," said Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, David Pomeroy.
