PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — The Davis & Elkins women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant offensive performance Monday afternoon, defeating Ursuline 28–3 in nonconference action.
The Senators erupted early, scoring 14 goals in the opening quarter to take complete control of the contest. Talia Berardo opened the scoring at the 13:55 mark before Davis & Elkins added 13 more goals in the period, including three from Rylee Anderson and two from Morgan Rogers to take a 14–0 lead after one.
Davis & Elkins continued to build its advantage in the second quarter, adding six more goals to extend the lead to 20–0 at halftime. Ke'ya Stevens, Mackenzie Mullan and Zoe Mackey each scored during the stretch, while Savannah Quave added two goals in the quarter.
The Senators pushed the lead to 24–1 by the end of the third quarter behind goals from Avelyn Anderson, Irelynd Manning and Josephine Whorton. Ursuline broke through late in the period with a goal from Grace Darone.
Davis & Elkins closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter with four more goals. Gabriela Crespo, Malia Galan and Emmalyn Whyte each found the back of the net, while Anderson added two more goals and Manning capped the scoring late off an assist from Anderson.
Anderson led the Senators with four goals and two assists, while Rogers finished with three goals and two assists. Berardo also recorded three goals and two assists, Stevens added three goals and one assist, and Quave scored three times. Avelyn Anderson finished with three goals and one assist, while Manning and Whorton each scored twice.
Defenders also contributed offensively, with Mackenzie Mullan and Zoe Mackey each scoring a goal for the Senators.
Defensively, Brooke Nicklaus and Mullan each caused three turnovers as Davis & Elkins forced 31 Ursuline turnovers in the game. The Senators also held a commanding 48–9 advantage in total shots.
In goal, Megan Bauer started and made one save in the opening quarter to earn the win. Daelyn Hardnack recorded one save over the next two quarters, and Harriet Johnson added one save in the final period.
With the win, Davis & Elkins improves to 9–4 overall and 2–3 in Mountain East Conference play.
The Senators return home Thursday for their "Every Child Matters Game" when they host Wheeling at 4:00 p.m. at Nuttall Field.
