Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA. — The Davis & Elkins men's tennis team fell to Thomas Jefferson, 6-1, on April 2 at the Abraham J. Salaman '58 Tennis Courts.
The Senators move to 7-3 overall with the loss.
Davis & Elkins opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Philipp Fedorczuk and Justus Petersilie defeated Matt Cizmarik and Filip Slavkovic 6-4 at the top spot, while Christo Wirahadipoernomo and Tom Strohschein earned a 6-2 victory over Nicholas Trebuchet and Johary Rabetrano at No. 2 doubles.
Thomas Jefferson responded by sweeping all six singles matches to secure the team victory.
At No. 1 singles, Fedorczuk dropped a tightly contested first set to Trebuchet 7-6, falling in the tiebreak 7-5, before Trebuchet took the second set 6-0.
At No. 2 singles, Justus Petersilie won the opening set 7-5 before Johary Rabetrano rallied to take the second set 6-4 and the match tiebreak 10-6.
Christo Wirahadipoernomo fell 6-1, 7-5 to Jules Thibault at No. 3 singles, while A. Mateos Melenchon defeated Tom Strohschein 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5 singles, Filip Slavkovic earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Filippo Buffo, and Matt Cizmarik defeated Santiago Ordonez 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Davis & Elkins returns to action Monday, April 13, when it hosts Bluefield State at 2 p.m. in Elkins, West Virginia.
