Box Score ELKINS, W. Va. — The Davis & Elkins women's tennis team fell to Averett University 6–1 Tuesday afternoon at the Thomas Tennis Center. The loss drops the Senators to 4–6 on the season, while Averett improved to 10–2.
Davis & Elkins claimed the lone doubles victory as Fabienne Lahn and Liebe Oosthuizen topped Elisa Battermann and Mirte Post 7–5 in the No. 1 doubles match. The Senators also competed in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, but fell 6–3 and by default, respectively.
In singles action, Lahn recorded D&E's only singles win, defeating Harshri Asher 6–3, 6–3 at No. 2 singles. Liebe Oosthuizen, Lilly Wentzler, and Maddie Frazier each battled but ultimately fell in their respective matches, while No. 5 and No. 6 singles were won by default.
The Senators return to action Sunday, April 12, when they host California University of Pennsylvania at 2 p.m. at the Thomas Tennis Center.
