Ammirati and Eddy Lead D&E at Blue Jay Classic

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Davis & Elkins Wrestling traveled to Elizabethtown College to compete in the Blue Jay Classic Saturday. Nick Ammirati and Garrett Eddy led the Senators as they finished eighth overall as Ammirati finished third in his bracket and Eddy finished fourth in his.

In the 125-pound bracket, Ammirati picked up a second round win over Romeo Tsai of McDaniel following a first round bye. He went on to advance to the invitational semifinal where he fell to the eventual weight class champion, Ethan Liptzin of Elizabethtown.

Ammirati moved to the consolation bracket and picked up another win over Tsai and a win over Michael Policarpio of Roanoke College to finish third overall.

Bradden Galassi had a pair of wins in the 165-pound bracket. In the first round, he defeated Nick Ross of Cortland State. He took down Mariano Monacelli of Keystone College in the second round before falling in the quarterfinal round. He then moved to the consolation bracket where he fell to Ryan Ohler of McDaniel.

Trokel Prew had a first-round bye in the 174-pound bracket before picking up a win in the second round over Noah Graber of Johns Hopkins 24-16. He fell in the quarterfinal round to Jeremiah Oakes of Scranton. Prew moved to the consolation bracket and fell to Yoann Olympio of McDaniel.

In the 197-pound bracket, Eddy picked up wins over Sam Francis of Roanoke College and Chris Bold of Cortland State before falling to the eventual 197-pound champion, Cameron Butka of Wilkes.

Eddy picked up another win in the consolation bracket over Lorenzo Pellot of Roanoke College before falling to Traisach Roland of Elizabethtown to finish fourth overall.

Elizabethtown finished first overall with 152.5 points. Wilkes was second with 145.5. Cortland State rounded out the top three with 139.5.
