ELKINS, W.Va. -- Enrique Garcia had a record-breaking evening in leading the Davis & Elkins men's swim team to a big win over the visiting West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats, 164-33 in a dual sprint meet. The D&E women had a big win of their own as they outpaced Wesleyan 182-27.

Garcia started his dominant performance with a win in the 50 butterfly with a time of 23.45. He then set new school and pool records in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.49. The school record bettered his own record set last February. The pool record was set in 2013. Garcia then teamed with Edwin Li, Payton Williamson, and Jakob Knoblach to win the 500 freestyle relay in a time of 4:32.00. He finished out his evening with a pool record in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 56.12; just .76 off his personal best.

The D&E women were led by Julianne Hobson and Shelbey Fuller. Hobson picked up wins in the 50 butterfly (28.34) and 100 butterfly (1:04.34) and teamed with Grace Janas, Bryanna Gollmer, and Rebecca Rodrigues in the 800 freestyle relay and Daphne McCann, Rodrigues, and Gollmer in the 200 freestyle relay for wins in times of 8:49.44 and 1:52.87, respectively. Fuller picked up wins in the 50 breaststroke (32.76) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.39) and teamed with Savannah Foley, Rodrigues, and Gollmer to win the 500 freestyle relay in a time of 5:17.91.

Also picking up individual wins for the Senators was McCann in the 50 backstroke (30.56), Williamson in the 50 backstroke (26.72), Li in the 50 breaststroke (26.17) and 100 freestyle (49.83), Foley in the 50 freestyle (26.70) and 100 freestyle (58.45), Nicholas Allen in the 50 freestyle (22.96), Rodrigues in the 200 individual medley (2:24.18), Geoff Dixon in the 200 individual medley (2:03.32) and 100 backstroke (57.93), and Gollmer in the (1:10.55).

The Senators are break from competition through finals and the holiday break.

D&E will begin the spring semester with a home dual with West Virginia Wesleyan at George A. Myles Pool on Friday, January 12 at 6pm. The following day, the two teams will compete in Buckhannon at 1pm.
