ELKINS, W.Va. -- The Davis & Elkins men won eleven of thirteen races and the women utilized a balanced attack, depth, and three individual wins by
Shelbey Fuller to down Notre Dame College and Wheeling University in a double-dual meet in the George A. Myles Pool Saturday.
Fuller led the way for the D&E women, picking up wins in the 100 (1:09.90) and 200 (2:32.76) breaststroke and the 200 butterfly (2:25.33). She also teamed with
Savannah Foley,
Julianne Hobson, and
Daphne McCann to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:51.75.
Hobson picked up a win in the 100 butterfly (1:02.53) and a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:09.30).
Foley added a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.94 and a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 58.12.
McCann had a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 26.25 and a pair of third-place finishes: 100 (1:06.01) and 200 backstroke (2:24.97).
Becca Rodrigues added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley in 2:22.50 and third-place finishes in the 100 (1:13.48) and 200 (2:42.60) breaststrokes).
Bryanna Gollmer picked up a couple of second-place finishes with times of 11:31.30 in the 1000 freestyle and 2:24.67 in the 200 backstroke. She also added a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:35.76.
Grace Janas added a third-place finish for the women in the 1000 freestyle in 12:10.27.
D&E defeated Wheeling 136-107 and Notre Dame 153-89 in the women's meet. Wheeling dropped Notre Dame 134-102.
On the men's side, D&E's
Edwin Li and
Jakob Knoblauch were three-event winners, while
Payton Williamson was a two-event winner, and
Geoff Dixon and
Enrique Garcia both won an event each.
Li had wins in the 100 (58.53) and 200 (2:11.34) breaststroke events and in the 50 freestyle (22.01).
Knoblauch won the 200 (1:48.87) and 500 (5:04.59) freestyle events, as well as the 200 butterfly (2:04.79).
Williamson had wins in the 1000 freestyle (10:42.21) and 200 backstroke (2:01.09). He also had a third-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:06.00.
Dixon picked up a win in the 100 backstroke in 55.55 and had a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:02.69.
Garcia had a win in the 100 butterfly in 52.38 and second-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:02.27) and 200 breaststroke (2:21.13).
Jose Robles added second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.14 and in the 100 freestyle in 50.54.
Nicholas Allen added a third-place finish for the D&E men in the 50 freestyle in 22.65 and
Ricardo Salas added a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:13.42.
The relay team of Dixon Williamson, Allen, and Garcia finished out the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:19.26.
The D&E men downed Wheeling 168-71 and Notre Dame 170-60. Notre Dame edged Wheeling 112-107.
